Go to the Maryland Business Express online portal to easily order and download business documents. You may need certified copies to open a bank account or for other business needs.
Access Business Documents Online
You can view most business documents filed after August 2001 for free using the Business Entity Search. Here’s how to get the documents:
- Go to the Portal
Visit the Maryland Business Express Entity Search. - Search for the Business
Use the search bar on the webpage. - Find the Business
Enter the business name or Department ID. - View Filing History
Click on the ‘Filing History’ tab to see a list of documents. - Order Available Documents
Order documents with an eye icon. Those with a crossed-out eye icon are not available online. - Start Your Order
Click the ‘Order Documents’ button and follow the instructions.
Certificate of Status
What is a Certificate of Status?
This is an official document that shows your business is following all state rules. It’s also known as a ‘Good Standing Certificate’ and is issued by the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation.

Order a Certificate of Status Online
To get a Certificate of Status for a business registered with the Department, go to Maryland Business Express and select ‘Certificate of Status.’
Click here to verify that an online Certificate of Status is authentic.
If a business is not in Good Standing with SDAT, resolve all issues before purchasing a certificate.
